The Summer Reading Challenge Launch

The Summer Reading Challenge is launching on Saturday 29th June in Alvechurch Library so join us for lots of out of this world activities. This year’s theme is Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Children taking part in the Challenge will join our super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens! For children aged 0 to 12 years, pop into the library for more information.

Love your Library Day with author Mark Lowery on Tuesday 23rd July FREE EVENTS

Fun talk for families from 9.30-10.30am.

Mark will be bringing lots of fun and games and silliness, with plenty of tips and hints about writing. With an extra dollop of jokes, wigs, magic tricks etc. Join in the fun by bringing the whole family. Please book at Alvechurch Library

Comic strip story workshop for children aged 6-12 years from 11-12.30pm.

Make your very own illustrated comic strip (6 years with parental support and 7-12 years working independently). Using a jam doughnut as a stimulus, get a whole bunch of wacky ideas to work on a structured, illustrated story. Please book at Alvechurch Library

Collaborative Creative writing workshop for adults and teens from 2.15-4.15pm.

Mark will join us for a 2 hour creative writing workshop for adults and teens that uses the quote “begin on the day when everything is different.” With that and using our surroundings in the library, you will then focus on building an exciting opening that drags the reader in and intrigues them. Like branches from a tree, we shall collate and collect the individual stories to celebrate the library. Please book at Alvechurch Library
