The school has two well-equipped halls for dance and gymnastics, a multi-use games area outside and a large field to cater for extensive games and athletics programmes.

All children are given the opportunity to participate in and learn through a balanced range of activities, which include gymnastics, dance, games, athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities.

The aim of Physical Education lessons is to aid the optimum development, integration and adjustment of the individual, physically, mentally and socially, through planning, participating and evaluating through a range of activities.

We shall endeavour to improve physical co-ordination together with the aesthetic appreciation of body movement.  This will be achieved through the acquisition of skills and participation in a wide variety of activities.  In line with the National Curriculum in Physical Education emphasis will also be placed upon the skills required in planning and evaluating.

Opportunities are provided to enable the children to display their newly found skills through team matches, tournaments and competition as part of our extra curricular programme.

Any children who are unable to physically participate in Physical Education lessons for medical reasons must bring a letter on the appropriate day.  Pupils will, however, be expected to participate in the lessons through planning or evaluating even though they are not greatly involved.

All children are expected to wear the school kit (see uniform lists) that should be clearly labelled.  Earrings and any other jewellery must be removed for all activities.  Long hair must be tied back.  Children will be expected to work barefoot for gymnastics and dance (exceptions will be made for children who have foot infections); outdoor footwear despite current fashions must be tightly laced.
